How to solve a problem like my credit card?

Once a slave of my salary loan now a small plactic card takes over and continued my misery. Approximately I have P18,000 as my credit balance. Methinks I can solve it by doing these steps:

a. Leave the plastic at home. This should be a lesson not only to me but to other trigger-happy swipers.

b. Pay more than what is expected to pay. I believe that it's not only me that have monthly dues (e.g. gym, bills) and if you just pay the exact amount or even lesser the tendency would be for your credit balance to swell-up.

c. Get rid of it. That's actually what I'll do once I pay all my debts.
